Trying to change my teardrop mounts and fit a towing eye today while i'm at it.

Got the old one off, new one goes in the gap ok, but there isn't enough room to get the little locating pin in!

I've currently got a jack handle wedged between the subframe and front panel and i'm levering it with quite a lot of force now but theres no way I can pull the front panel away enough to get this little pin in. I don't want to damage the front panel with excessive force

Is there a trick to doing this i'm missing?

Because if it doesn't go in soon i'm thinking about just grinding this little pin off, as then the mount will slide into place fine, and once the bolts are in, I can get the mount square and tighten everything down so it won't move.

Help would be appreciated asap - Need to use the car in a couple of hours!

Thanks

try slackening all the other subframe mounts to give you more movement..

Thanks for the tip mate, managed to get it sorted in the end.

I filed down the locating pin to about half its original size, it was about 7mm before and the front panel just didnt have the give.

Made a bit of a mess of the front panel now but it'll straighten out.

Just need a longer bolt now as the one supplied with the towing eye doesn't leave much thread to tow the weight of the car on!
