Hi Everyone,

My mini has developed a knocking noise which is related to the road speed, it does it all the time when driving, except when the brakes are applied.

Even if you put the brakes on a tiny bit without really slowing down it stops the noise.

It knocks under acceleration, coasting in neatral and deceleration.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Cheers,

Jake

if the knocking noise stops when braking I would be looking at the brakes or around then on the hubs if its coming from the front

Check 3 things, engine mounts, engine stabilisers or cv joints for movement

I had the same issue with mine, For me it required new suspension cones on the front :) (but my cones were exceptionally old :P

This is probably not suspension related, from the description, as it is related to road speed. Far more likely to be loose wheel nuts, loose brake discs, loose hub nut, failing hub bearings, or CV joint, possibly even inner pot joint or worn drive shaft splines.

Just to update, turned out several of the near side drive flange bolts had worked their way loose. Lucky I didn't drive it or could of ended badly! Cheers for all the suggestions
