Hi everyone,  After owning a mini for my first car at 17 and bulding and fitting a bored out A Series 1400cc lump in it along with twin 1 3/4 Su Carbs amongst loads of bit to change the car from completely standard 998cc mini checkmate to the pictures below 135bhp pocket rocket .  I loved the car to bits but regrettably sold it for a more "modern, reliable, practical Corsa VXR.....

After owning that car for 5 years and never really feeling the soul I got from my old mini the itch grew bigger and bigger until I sold it and decided to embark on a Z-cars conversion, something  I had contemplated on doing to my previous mini before I went for the 1400cc option.  I then figured Id like to document my build no matter how long and tedious as this is something I hadn't done on my previous mini and wished I had.

Below are pictures of my first mini in all its glory!

After looking around for a Mini to start the project I hadn't found anything for around £2000 without having rust on the majority of the panels (as expected)  However I then found this Shell which had a new front, wings welded on as well as inner and outer skins, new boot lining and battery lining (although I will be cutting them out!  both Doors skinned, primed for paint.  The only spots of rust I have found are two 5p sized ones on the roof skin and drivers footwell. The bloke I bought it off was a real mini enthusiast who was sadly made redundant.  So I drove the 400mile round trip in a LWB van to pick it up.  I was also given all the glass, fuel tank, interior trims dials leads, switches etc.  I now have the car back at home and am about to start a 10ft garage extension making it 30ft long and 10ft wide in the next week to give me more space to finish off my current bike project and start on the mini!  I also last week picked up a K20a2 engine and gearbox from a friend, it is missing a few external parts but at least this gives me the option to add new and improved parts over the standard OEM.
