I can't see it very well but it looks like there is a white wire connected to a brown wire - is that the one you mean...?

Well, you have a fundamental problem there then....

 

Brown is supposed to be a permanent live from the battery...

 

White is supposed to be a switched live from the ignition...

 

Clearly it can't be both... you'll have to track it back and see where it goes...

 

Search the Intermong for a BS AU7 wiring standard which will explain what each of the colours are for....

 

However, looking at some of the other wiring and the unconventional use of a mains earth cable you may be better of following each wire back to its source than relying on the colours...

Be careful of the wire above the brake cylinder tank twisted together and bare wire,  if it touches the metal body of the master cylinder it will short out

thats the wire i'm referring to! its brown and white. I think its something to do with the lights as it runs across the top of the wing.

 

Also could someone tell me the colour of the wire that connects to the brake fluid res?

As I said, your wiring bears no relation to the wiring standard....

 

You'll have to trace it to its source... nobody can tell you what a white and brown wire twisted together are connected to....

 

Suggest you get a Haynes manual which will show you what colours the wires should be and (more importantly in your case) how they are connected....

There should be two wires on the barke fluid level switch, black, which is earth, and black-white, which goes to the warning lamp.

I do have a haynes manual but looking at the wiring diagrams is a bit daunting
