Howdy,
Would any off you fine people be able to recommend any cheap (I'm talking uber-cheap) ways to tune my engine?
As far as I'm aware the unit it's self is a std 1275cc Metro engine with HIF33 carb, cone airfilter, LCB manifold and some shiney looking exhaust (think it's an RC40).
I'm really having to limit my budget to next to nothing.
Any idea/suggestions would be most kind.
Ta
Bones.
I want to go faster

HIF44 carb is a good start! - bout £20ish
and then stg1 kit - bout £100-ish for a decent one
then a decent head - £200-£500
Then a decent cam - £100 ish
the its all about engine size, and gearing -£1000+

i'd say a good stage 1 kit is more towards 130 - 150 for a proper full kit with needle.
quick thing you can do Bones is put some big holes in the air box and if your feeling dangirous. then liquid mothballs in the petrol.

Alll of you are forgetting the cost of a rolling road or any garage services (like timing a cam correctly).
If your budget is next to nothing, perform a full service on your engine, using quality parts. Then have it rolling roaded. Best you can do on a limited budget.

Strip it of all the weight you can. i.e seats, carpets, headlining, door cards, spare wheel (get a can of tyreweld). That wont cost you anything, and it'll return better fuel consumption as well

Cheers for the advice everybody.
Ria - everytime I drive I scream No wait that's the passengers!!
I gave it a bloody good service when I installed the engine, so looks like a new carb and cam are in order.
Then off for a RR at MiniMaster.
Rock on!!
