Hi
I'm going to solid mount the front subframe and I know I have to reinforce the toeboard, but when I removed the carpet there allready was some plates. But I'm in doubt about it's enough.
I attached a foto and hoping somre of you can give it a go pr no go.
by the way it's a 1976

You need somewhat larger and thicker plates, say 2mm by 6 inches square.

Looks like a leter subfrme and shell than 76', although that was a crossover year so i'm guessing its just a later 76 mini

As has been said, usesome think steel and make two plates to weld over the area (with bolts removed), then drill the holes out, paint and bolt it all back up and jobs a gooden. :)

Make sure you protect with plenty of paint and plug weld also as welding around the edges isn't that great.

Some i,ve seen were one big piece across and over the tunnel so might be an idea if you,re feeling more technical :P

rally515's idea is a good one, especially if the outer sides of the plate join up with the wheel arch, as not only will it stiffen the subframe mounts but it will strengthen the area of the Mini that often collapses in a hard frontal impact, resulting in trapped and severely injured feet. So you gain on safety, for a bit more work. Some more metal welded to the flat floor, and to the main stiffner, along the floor to toeboard seam would make it even stronger in a crash.
