What mods or add ons did Japan make to the later model minis sent their way. I picked up a 1990 moyor that had Japanese stickers on the rocker cover and the alternator

I have a 1994 Cooper that came via Canada that seems fairly original. Other differences besides the air con include; no alarm/immobiliser, a bracket on the floor between the front seats for a road flare, the radio with the FM narrow band for Japan, a catalyst overheat warning buzzer included in a unique exhaust system, the spot lights do not come on if the fog lights are on and the colour schemes are different for a particular model (ie Japanese Monte Carlo in BRG and UK models were black or red only). Everything else appears to be standard UK stuff.
However, the 1997 and later models have a lot of differences from the MPI models. Among them; the radiator is on the side and not the front in order to have air con, SPI injection with a unique ECU but with an MPI engine block plus all of the above differences.

Great that this has come up, hope someone can help.
Im in Perth, Oz, looking at buying a 1999 Cooper, Japanese import over in Sydney. Now here in Western Australia it's law to have your car fitted with an immobiliser. My MPI back in the UK has 1 but does anyone know if I can fit a Rover immobiliser to a Jap spec SPI? As mentioned above, the Japanese spec Coopers have no alarm or immobiliser. Can it be done?
