Does anyone have any knowledge or feedback from a mini trader in Norwich called ajsminis? Either good or bad. I'm just trying to gauge opinion before I part with lots of cash for a new car! Their website www.ajsminis.co.uk will not show photos for some reason? So if anyone has had any dealings with the company, or indeed the owner is on here, please say hello so I can rest assured that all is above board.

Hi there , I used them to fit new door skins , A panels , and rear valence to my mpi . On quick inspection the work seemed satisfactory but on a closer look , they had sprayed the botten of my seat belts with paint , there was a grind mark in my wings and boot lid , an overall wAs left feeling unhappy . But have had no experience with buying a car from them And the quick glance I got the cars all looked in good order

Thanks. In my case I am weighing up whether to view a car which is a 200 mile round trip away. If the work is shoddy on close inspection, it won't necessarily show up on a photograph. The guy I spoke sounded cagey IMO too. All good reasons not to bother, yet if I don't buy a ticket I won't win the lottery!

They imported my mini from japan, saying that I did not buy it from them. I saw it advertised on their site and the description was accurate, like the one you are probably referring to (blue) that they have for sale, I would definitely go and have a look as mine has NO RUST at all and that one looks pretty much the same. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Dartford tunnel to where they are located is about 2 hours journey.

I've dealt with them on ebay, and the guy running the place (Sean I think) seems genuine and helpful enough. Haven't used them for any work though.

Hear a few neg things from the members of the local club but they all seem to have preferred garages anyway and loyalty often involves slagging off other companies.

In fairness we never hear from people when good work has been done.

Maybe its best to view and make up your own mind.

We often hear of bad things from very large mini parts suppliers but they must be an exception rather than the rule as they are still going strong.

Imported minis from japan are often rust free and much higher spec than UK versions. Have someone who knows what they are looking at go with you.

Thanks all, but I got my new car elsewhere in the end. The advice is right, though. You get so much more from talking face to face. Anyone can describe a mini as mint on eBay, but until you actually view it, it's just words.
For the record, I'm absolutely delighted with my Mayfair 1275!

Digging up an old thread, however, just bought a rolling shell with V5 off Aj's minis this morning, had a good look around his workshop and current work and wouldn't have any worries with him carrying out any work I needed doing, or buying a restored mini off him, and the guy himself, he was friendly and genuine enough.
Obviously everyone's experiences and opinions are different, just throwing in my penny's worth as you rarely hear good reviews, generally it's only when businesses have made an error you hear about them.
