Hello,

I am in the process of rebuilding my gearbox and adding an LSD.  At the same time, I am changing the crown and pinion ratio from 3.2 to 3.76.  My existing speedo drive gears are a 7 tooth worm and 18 tooth pinion.  The car is a 1996 Silver Bullet (SPI).

Can anyone confirm that the speedo drive gears for the 3.76 FD should be a 6 tooth worm and an 18 tooth pinion?  I am running 10 inch wheels and tires.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you speedo ran right with the 7/18, then yes you will need a 6/18 combination, however, if the 7/18 are original to the car ( SPi I believe ) then you will need a different 18 tooth pinion to work with the 6 tooth worm...

I was hoping you would chime in.   :D   That is exactly the information I was looking for.

I was not aware that there were two different versions of the 18 tooth pinion.  My pinion is from my SPi and is brown in color.  How does the 22G2024 pinion differ from the SPi version?

Thank you.

Diameter, the worm that the spi runs is much bigger, therefore the pinion needs to be smaller and finer toothed... this will not work with the 6 tooth worm.

That is good to know.  I just purchased an 18T pinion from your website.

Cheers!
