I'm planning to switch a manual engine and gear box (1275 - 1988) into a 998 auo shell (1970's car re-imported from Japan in 91) What sort of problems may I encounter please. What is the best way to go about this project please? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

JJ

Firstly, the auto and manual subframes are different, but minispares do conversion plates

Then you obviously need a manual pedal box so you have a clutch!

You'll need a clutch master cylinder and gearstick!

And you need to connect the inhibitor wires together!

I'd also be looking for a disc conversion for the brakes

There is a switch which means you can't start the engine unless its in neutral on the auto

I believe its location depends on the year of car but mine was on the gear selector

The pedal boxes are the same, the auto has a spacer instead of a clutch pedal.

hi I have just dont this the other day on mine its ment to be easyer to replace the pedal on its own but I found the spacer welded it self together I would do the whole pedal box you will need an extra steady on the gearbox as manual dont have it
also the wires you have to put to gether was on the end off slecter and was green just tape together then hide under carpet

Clutch pedal is a bit of a pain because the fitment is tight, it also doesn't help that you have to be upside down in the car the change it over :P But it's a damn sight easier than pulling the pedal box out.

This drawing really helped me with the hydraulics
