Its been a while since ive used an SU carb but i would like to know, does a HIF44 need dashpot oil like the 'HS' type SU's? If so; is 3 in 1 oil acceptable to use for this? And also; how do you know how much to put it? Thanks.

You fitt the dashpot the same as the HS carbs. 3 in 1 is acceptable, but switch to something thicker if you get flat spots-boggin down under acceleration.

I use 15w40 with the HIF44, but oil choice is part of the carb tuning really.

Make sure the damper is the correct type LZX2085.

yes as above it all depends on what state of tune your mini is in.....my 1380 uses a HIF44 and I use 3 in one oil it responds realy well as piston rises a littke quicker than with engine oil........ :proud:

3-in-1 is good, as is air tool oil.

I've always found 3-in-1 way too thin on a variety of cars from 850 to 1380 (and a Dolomite) and with an assortment of carburetion methods.

It's probably better to go a touch rich on what than too lean and bog down.

Look down the hole and you will see a step. Fill to the top of that.

That's probably the excess being sucked into the carb ;-)
