Right, I'm unsure if this is the correct area to be posting but anyway...

I have an spi and have never used and alarm since purchase. I want to install the a series kit and have been in contact with them and some of my questions have been answered. firstly I've done my research to the extent that I cant find anymore information.

I have a black box behind the passenger side of my dash and I have been thinking is some sort of alarm/immobiliser but I'm not 100% sure.

my knowledge it this:

1. my car's ecu is a 101150, I think this is matched with an alarm.

2. there is two different types of alarms that could have been fitted to my car. 3AS and the 5AS

3. one has a one button fob and the other is a two button fob.

really I want to know what kind of alarm it is (I can post photos of the black box and the numbers that are on the case, but it doesn't have a sticker)

I haven't got the fob key and was wondering if I remove the black box would it affect anything? the cars drivable and is a daily driver so I don't want to immobilise my car. I have also found that I have two wires (one in the engine compartment by the drivers headlight and the other in the boot) they are both the same (purple with orange tracer) I've heard that this would be the contact points for an alarm but I'm not sure.

could I leave the box plugged in and still install an a series gold package? if there is anyone that has used an a series alarm and could give me some info on how they installed it. power source etc. etc. (obv pm) that would be greatly appreciated. I also don't get how the immobiliser is to work with the a series kit due to my possible matched alarm.

any replies would be greatly valued as I really do need some sort of security within my car

thanks, Macauley

I have a spi and this is your alarm module, the wires you have found are for the alarm they trigger if the boot/bonnet and doors have been opened.

in unsure if you unplug this the car will still start as this is connected to the ecu.

and ill be watching this thread because i wouldn't mind a spare key fob if anyone can recommend where you get new ones from.
