Has anyone fitted the trims that mini spares sell that go on top of door?

I got a set, followed instructions to the letter and there's no way I can get them to fit, they seem too long. I've even tried sitting them on without rivot/pins on, when you work from front to back, the back top corner pops out, when you go back to front the front corner pops out. Would have just binned them except i've drilled the doors already. Any suggestions.
