Thinking of fitting a panoramic sunroof in my mini I've seen threads where someone fitted one from a BMW mini. But i can't find any threads on how to fit one. And what other panoramic sunroofs from other cars might fit. Cheers mark

I've done a bit of searching in the past and never found thread on how it's done. That said I've only seen it in one Mini so that's no great surprise.

My plan was to buy a Bimi roof cut off at the pillars and fit as much of the BMW structure into the Mini roof as I could. I don't expect I'll get around to doing it any time soon though.

Best I can do to help:http://s110.photobuc...ml?sort=3&o=273

It's full of photos including fitting the roof, but at the same time doesn't show you enough.

I'm just about to order one, but not sure what type of wiring loom I'm going to need. Any ideas?

I have one fitted, all it is is two wires run from the motor to a 5 pin rocker switch, with the switch connected to power and ground. The difficult thing is the drainage tubes, as they are big and chunky and difficult to navigate down through the car, I found a different tubing that was much more flexible.

I was thinking about this a few years ago until I found out they weigh in excess of 30kg. That wasn't weight wanted in the highest part of the car.

Thanks guys! At the moment I'm a little divided now.
mm man: your roof and work looks amazing! How do you drive it and how much does the weight at the top effect the handling?

Evansis great: that's why I'm starting to thing is it a good idea? I drive my normal every day car...normally, but when I drive my mini...I drive it like a big kid! I head to the mountains and make my self smile with all the fast the windy roads!:):)

I'd say it depends what you want from the car. I'm not building my mini as a track warrior, but it will definitely see one so I decided that I'd rather add lightness with that money.

Like everyone always says here, it's your car and you know how you'll use it and what you want from it. We're just here to give you information to help you make the right decision for you.

If you've got the skills to put one in and it fits with the car you want at the end of the day I think it'd be a wonderful addition. Just don't be sore if there's a car that slowly pulls away from you at the motorway on ramp one day.

I saw a white mini on here a while ago with one of those roofs. It also had  flip up bootlid and frenched in rear lights.

If you could find that thread, you could probably ask the owner
