Welcome to the build of my new mighty mini, ive decided to build a new car for the 2014 season as it will be carrying my advertising for my restoration business and i want it to be as good as it can be, My current mighty is good but i did cut a few corners in places as i was running out of time to get it finished  and i just wanted to get out on track, I didnt want people looking at it and taking it as a representation of the work that would normally go out of my door!

I could re-do the bits that im not happy with on the current car as it basically boils down to tidying up some rough edges and some paint, but knowing my luck it will get pushed to the back in favour of customers work (quite right!) and not be finished in time for the new season, at least this way i will still have a car to use if the new ones not ready for the start of season

Current plan is to build up the new shell and then swap everything over from the old car, budget permitting it may end up being built as a complete car so i still have the old car to use in an emergency

Shell is coming out of my stock and is a 94 / L reg cooper spi as per mighty mini regs

Enough talk, you want pics!

Overall not a bad shell, needs new floors both sides as the fronts have been bodged badly, inner / outer sills, inner wing replacement, front end inc scuttle, couple of repairs in the boot floor, you know, the usual mini grot!

Engine bay, interior, boot area and main under floor will all be painted silver so it will go with any future exterior colour changes, exterior paint job is a secret at the moment but with any luck it should be one of the more eyecatching cars on the grid!

Ryan

Certainly an interesting floor arrangement there.

Yep, seam welded from underneath and just flapping about on top, was hopeful when i saw the ebay pics that they had just been dropped into place for storage, but no, complete front pans cut out and this monstrosity in its place!

We have to use the standard safety devices 6 point bolt in with 2 doorbars each side and a harness bar

Are you allowed to use front triangle bars to the sub frame for extra safety or does that add to much weight

No, its in our regs, cant tie it to the shell or subframes in anyway, just the bolt in cage

Sure the Mini7 racing club and building a S-class se7en isn't a better way to showcase your business/talents. I am biased by the way ;-)

If you are racing a Super Mighty Mini you might keep up with the se7ens/S-class Se7ens :P. Lap times on Mighty's are measured in calender months. I've just done a season on 4K - no panels needed. You'll have to compare notes with me at the end of 2014 season ;) Roger Tello is always a bit economical with the truth about the Mini7 racing club. And we don't have to buy our panels and bumpers off him either lol. You'll have to let your mates know ;0)

The market for prep isn't sewn up with Peter Vickers et al. Lots of scope. Good luck with the build.
