3 Clock Backlight

Best Answer sherly , 06 November 2013 - 09:09 PM
Just done mine.
Used these off of eBay http://ebay.eu/1hgcZc7
They are a direct replacement for the dash bulbs - they are a touch on the big side but will go into 1275GT clocks, just. Replaced all of them apart from the oil press and alt charge check lights.
Here's the result - well pleased.

I'm looking at installing some LED back lights on my 3 clock dash. Has any one got any instructions on how to do this and any led lights which they recommend on eBay etc which are bright and good quality?
Thanks for your help

If smiths centre clock, you need leds fitted to an E10 screw bulb,
If later 3 clock, you can get away with leds fitted to a T10 push bulb
to get hold of these, fleabay is your friend

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - LEDs have to be installed with the correct polarity - i.e. negative to negative, positive to positive. Otherwise they don't illuminate. I worked it all out using a multimeter with the clocks on the bench and tested all with a 12v battery and test leads before installing in the car.

@sherly how many LEDs did you use? I bought 4 will that be enough?
I bought a set of 10 and used 6 (don't replace the alt charge light with an LED!)
to be honest if it's just the dials you want to illuminate with LEDs (and not indicators/main beam) you can get away with 3x
Just to check - What clocks have you got? Mine are in my GT and have t10 wedge type bulbs - not sure what the later clocks are like.

I bought 4 of the link you posted instead of 10. Your right, they look awesome!
