I am looking at updating the ICE in my Mini City. I would like all round sound, so speakers front and back, as well as subs. I was therefore wondering if it would be possible to fit two subs and two speakers in the kick board you can get to go under the rear seats. I would then most likely use a head unit like this one (http://bit.ly/HyAaO3) and pods from optimise automotive to do the front speakers. Would I need an amp for this set up or is the head unit okay? (I'm very new to this)

Cheers for your thoughts guys.

Right, done a little more research. Amps are a must (obviously) so sorry about that...where do people normally put them? Also, would component speakers in the rear kick board actually do anything or am I best sticking to two components in the front and then two 8" subs in the kick board?

Definitely put the components up front. Without a doubt, it'll sound pants with them behind you.

8" Subs wont fit easily under the rear seat without a little work, 6.5s fit fine though and can sound great when set-up well.

I was thinking of having both behind and in front, not worth it?

Oh yeah? How can I make sure they are set up well?

In the small cabin of a mini its not really needed front and back. Plus alot of the sound spectrum will be lost firing into the back of your seats.

Up front is best if you want the best from your speakers. Plus you'll have more of a budget if you're only having to buy one set for the front, sub and amps.

So how would it be in the back? I just don't want to have to deafen myself so my rear passengers can hear!

I've just done a basic two focal component speakers on the parcel shelf and an edge sub in the boot , sounds great. Although I will be looking at two more speakers for the front. Plus my sub is active with built in amp and head unit is Philips DAB one from halfrauds.

I've just got amped components up front in Optimise Automotive AP pods and because I value my boot space I bought and 'Under seat' active subwoofer which I installed in one of the the rear bins. I sound deadened the bujebus out of the rear bin though because it vibrated it a lot! I find this set up works really well for what I want which is fairly decent sound quality on a fairly low budget. To answer your question about Amp position. Mines in the boot, when I get around to ordering a boot tidy kit I'm going to mount the amp to the board at the back of the boot. I've seen a lot of clever installs on TMF. If you have a search you will find lots of info on ICE installs. Ruckus is the man to look out for. If you take a look at his Mini Audio 101 thread you will learn a lot.

Also the Definitive Ice guide on here is extremely useful. Post 24 will come in handy.
