I've got a 12g295 head I'd like gas flowed. I was wondering whether anyone could say how tricky it might be as I would't mind trying doing it myself. I've got a standard 998cc head to practice on...

Good grinding bit in a drill/dremmel and your away, practise on your standard head and decide whether your good enough to do it on the 295

Yeah one's measureing the flow rate (for calculation purposes i presume but can't confirm myself) and the other is to physicaly increase flow by taking out material to increase port size and/or flow angles towards the valves

There are plenty of resources online to guide you in building a flow bench at home, or they can be bought on eBay but are a pretty penny or two. If you have a background in engineering or fabrication I think it's achievable once you have read up on what you're doing

You need to be carefull doing your own head improvements if you are inexperienced. This book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Modifying-Production-Cylinder-Heads-motobooks/dp/0851130089/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1383387413&sr=1-2&keywords=Clive+Trickey  or http://www.amazon.co...s=Clive Trickey are good starting point. In the old days it was a bible.

by all means have a go at the 998 head, but I'd sugest getting the 295 done by someone good as they are getting thin on the ground,

TurboPhil on here is good and well priced too.
