Hi all,
Ive just bought a vtec conversion. Its running a 1.6 b16a2 with around 160bhp from a del sol import with a b18 LSD box. The ratio seem impossibly short for my plans as a weekend play thing. 1st, 2nd and 3rd almost seem redundant as they red line almost instantly, with massive torque steer in each.
Im hitting 5000 revs at 70 in 5th, and although I havent tried to top it out yet it seems I bit of a waste.
Anyone got any idea or is it just a case of changing my driving style?

Look at changing your final drive ratio, find out what you've got and what the individual gear ratios are, then find out what other final drives are available. Then find a final drive calculator on the internet that you put in wheel and tyre size along with all the gear information and revs and this will give you the speeds for each gear at the redline. This will allow you to change the final drive ratio to something more suited to your style.

Cheers mate. Someone I know mentioned fitting 14" wheels to try and control the torque.
I'll have a look at the box when I get chance.

Just measured the wheels I have and they're already 14s. Definitely need to look at the ratio.

Turns out the main problem was from the wheel alignment and the wheel offset. I dropped some new wheels on it and the handling was almost as good as an a-series engined mini.
Shame the ball joint went and put me in a hedge the very next day.
