Hi, Im trying to find out whether there are any 'legal fiddles' I can do to insure multiple cars. I currently have a 79 mini insured with go girl and an 03 mk4 golf tdi insured with diamond. I would really like to get a mk4 golf 2.8 v6 but I would still be keeping the diesel golf as I do long distance commuting and cant justify going from nearly 60 mpg to just over 20! and I cant sell the mini because its well... a mini!

I also keep looking at other mini projects! so I could end up with a whole load of cars I want on the road!

Im 19 an will be 20 when id be even considering buying a v6 golf so you can imagine what im paying to keep 2 cars on the road!

I did try to insure the mini and current golf on a multicar but I was really struggling due to the minis age or my age so they had to go on individual policies.

So are there any alternatives I can do to attempt to get the price down? I did speak to a friend who suggested a trade policy and possibly sharing it with other people to split costs but i'm not sure what the situation would be with the price or in the event that some one does have an incident. He also suggested that many limit you to 2500 CC but that would be no good as the golf would be 2800CC.

Long shot I know but I would be very grateful with any help!

I'm currently in a similar position

I have my 998 mini for fun a focus mk2 1.6diesel for general use & traveling, & my gas guzzler volvo 850 2.4 petrol I use as a van/ work horse basically.
I'm 23 & own my own house. I've tried to get a policy to cover all my cars in the house hold but it works out more expensive than what I'm paying now.
It appears I'm a couple of years to young for it to be worth while.

I also looked into a trade policy but again I'm a couple of years too young.
So for now I have to grit my teeth & continue to insure each car.
Insurance really is a killer for us youngens!

The thing I don't understand is my 92 mini is roughly 60hp, kept in a secure workshop with tracker.
My volvo is a 96 , 2.4 20v estate, roughly 170hp & kept on drive way. The volvo is actually £10 cheaper to insure than the mini :z
& My modern /safer focus is kept in the garage & is the most expensive to insure. This really Makes no sense to me lol

Yes my mini is more to insure than the golf! Annoyingly if was a bit younger it would be much cheaper to insure and it could go on a normal multicar policy!I also looked at getting a focus before I brought the golf and found it to be more expensive to insure despite the fact the golfs got a bigger more powerful engine and vw parts are nuturious for being expensive!
I'm sure there's method in the madness! Actually im not!
