my 1275 A+ will start, but i can only get max of 3000 revs and not enough power to move.

It will tick over and sounds ok.

Points and plugs seem ok and oil in damper pot ok.

Anyone know what else I can try?

Can you please keep it none technical, as I have limited knowledge

What ignition do you have? It could be points gap, or many other ignition things. A low tech way to check fuelling is to splash a little fuel into the carb throat and see if it makes a difference.

I have checked the points gap and it's ok. I will try the fuel into the carb trick.

It could be your ignition timing, it could be too advanced

it could also be very simple in that the throttle isn't opening fully.

check if its fully open with pedal flat to the floor...even thick carpet can restrict pedal movement.
