My complete engine was transported on a pallet. A block, although lighter, is still rather heavy and ungainly, so I'm not sure there's any other way to post it :/

I sent a compressor which was 39 kg. and it was about £15-20. Collected from your home or work.
You don't need it on a pallet just boxed up well. Lots of reinforcing and padding.

Don't be ridiculous, have you ever tried getting an engine block through that plastic slot thingy that they have in the post office, to check that your envelope's not too thick?.... And if you put it in a jiffy bag first, then you've got no chance!!
