I'm thinking about putting some speakers into my mini, as I currently have none. Im pretty sure they're are some wires for speakers below the rear window and when I first bought the car it had a broken cd player attached under the dash.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and maybe some links to the type of speakers, wiring and audio player I will need?

I just want something basic (don't need it to be so loud it shakes the car) which means I can play my ipod through. I also want to make sure I don't ruin the feel of the car as I've made sure that I keep the classic looks and feel of all the interior.

I was thinking of maybe installing some speakers under the rear seat as then they're more hidden and wont ruin the look of the interior.

I wont be doing the work myself  but thought people on here could probably give me better advice than the local garage!

Any advice on anything would be great!

Thanks very much

(ps I have a 1986 998cc Park Lane)

Think about audio as going to a concert in a small venue. Do you go to the building where the show is taking place, go one floor above and sit facing away from the air vent that links you to the concert room? That's the basic experience of speakers in a board behind you firing at the back of the front seats. Keep in mind that in a classic mini you've got road and engine noise competing with the sound, so put a blender and a heavy droning electric fan in that upstairs room as well.
On the rear package shelf is a bit better, and where the factory generally put speakers, since it offered the least intrusion into passenger space. Now you're sitting on the same floor as the band, but facing away from the stage and towards the blender and big fan, both of which are closer to your ears than the band.
The ultimate ideal is to add sound deadening under the carpets and against the firewall up front, then have the speakers in front of you. Now the blender and fan are backstage muffled by curtains, and you're facing the stage.
This sounds exhaustive and invasive, but simple solutions are available, such as modified door pockets that house speakers, or dash-mounted small speakers that can hide behind or complement your vents.

hi,

for a basic but nice set up i would use component set for under £60 the edge and vibe stuff is good value for money but its always best to use amplifier to power them to get the best sound for your money
