Hi all, on my mini the off side front wheel locks up when i brake under normally, It happens if their are passengers or just me in the car. This has only just started to happen. It has disc brakes fitted and so was wondering if its the caliper or slides???

Any info much appreciated.

is the near side working all right ? - off side may be doing all the work - hence skidding

 

check the pads are good & check they can be moved (both sides)

Could be a sticking calliper piston.

remove pads, clean rust/dirt from around edge of caliper and area where pads sit, copper grease back of pads, replace pads.

Classic Mini's don't usually have slider pins on the calipers - or a slider mechanism 

 

they usually have opposing pistons - but yours may have had a conversion ?

 

if not  - as above check all 4 pistons for movement and pads are free to move and in good condition

 

best of luck - I wouldn't drive until sorted

Hi all, job done, I removed the brake pads to find the outer piston on the caliper now working correctly, it was all gunked up. So I cleaned off, no rust. I pumped the brakes to get the pistons working freely and hey presto. Thanks all for your input, all much appreciated.

In the past , I have seen a Disc snap due to a piston seized -

 

the other side bent the disc till it snapped locking the wheel , not nice
