hi I recently went to see a mini clubman 1275GT with 1300 metro engine (old one broken but in garage) and on test drive it miss fired quite a few times and also in forth it just had no go what so ever. so I was wondering what the problem could be.

Is it just a small problem with the carb set up or something major?

Is this common?

thanks a lot Lee

it does sound like a badly tuned carb, but it could also be a multitude of other sins though. Most of which aren't particularly expensive, but some of which are. It's difficult for us to know without being there.

Could be a number of things like, fuel mixture, faulty ignition components, timing out etc.

Although you can use this to knock the price down, as most of the time most probs on a mini are not that expensive to fix.

The first thing I would do to any mini after buying though is change the oil & filter, air filter, plugs, Ht leads, dissi cap and points and condenser.

Even if they don’t look that old, once changed at least you know,
Plus should help on the reliability too.
