What Starter Motor Do I Need

which starter motor do i need on my pick up, the engine is a 1275 from a late metro i think and the starter solenoid is on the left wing. Flywheel has 129 teeth

this is the starter that came with the engine but my wiring is now different on the pick up and im not changing it now

you need the same starter, but you technically don't need that wing mounted solenoid now.

 

The starter needs to match the flywheel not the wiring of the car.

So if you've kept everything the same and thats the starter that was on, you use same starter and adjust wiring to suit

 

Easiest would be to run your battery cable direct to the starter motor assuming its long enough.

 

extend the wire that energises the wing mounted solenoid to reach the starter motor large spade connection

 

then run some high ampage cable from the starter motor battery connection to the wing mounted solenoid and attach it to the terminal with all the brown wires attached.

i havent got my battery cable yet, a bloke from minisport has told me to use an inertia starter motor with 9 teeth, i just find this confusing and cant get my head around it. care to help me extend the wires haha?

You can't use the inertia starter on this, it will jam the ring gear. As above, and the same as I have e-mailed you earlier this week, you need to adapt your wiring to suit.

it doesnt seem to strike and its bit old and battered so was just gonna buy a brand new one and have done
