im going to tackle the flitch panel tomorrow and would like to know what would be the best way to weld it in thanks ?

Butt Weld Or Joggle Flitch Repair Panel ?

butt weld if you can, if not then joggle it, dont like joggled joints but a good joggled joint will be better than a bad butt weld!

butt weld it is then, i take it you just mark around the new panel then cut it out with 1mm cutting disk?

Yep chop out the old, clamp it into place (you can use the door hinge holes) and draw around it. you can use a cutting disk but tin snips are easier, alot easier to control and you don't get a burr on the edge.

You can get them cheaper on eBay or make your own, but they are worth their weight in gold when butt welding.
Just tack in between them, then remove them and extend the tacks one at a time until you end up with a full seam weld.

to be honest i didnt get on too well and ive decided to take a couple weeks away from the mini and teach myself how to weld properly as this is where i keep having troubles im trying to run before i can walk so im going to practice on some scrap metal until im confident then i will get back on it

Use plugs half an inch apart, then you can fillet where they meet
