Previously at GUESSWORKS...

If you came to me with a gearbox to sell, the standing arrangement was £35 a complete box, no quibble, no looking at the condition, as long as it was all there and did not have big holes in the casing then you got £35.

This arrangement is still available, however, there is now an alternative, you can choose to have the gearbox(es) graded. The categories are in the table below ( attached as downloadable document ) and also the grading criteria.

For A+ and A series 4 synchro rod change boxes the prices related to the gradings are as follows...
A - £75
B - £50

C - £35
D - £20
E - 50 pence per Kilo

I think I've been fair, what do you think ?

Can I ask why 3.4,3.6 and 3.7 ratios are worth less? I always thought they were popular for a good compromise between acceleration and still retaining a bit of cruising speed.

What you say, is probably true of the 3.1, 3.2 and 3.4 to an extent, but not the 3.6 and 3.7, these are 'no value' final drives economically.. and there is no shortage of 3.4, 3.6 and 3.7 final drives, not according to the quantity I have in storage. However, there is a demand for other ratios hence why there is a premium on gearboxes with them in.

They are worth less because they are more commonly found

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise they were that common. I had to search and search when I was looking for a 3.6. Must have been unlucky!
