Thinking of doing a rocker cover in red wrinkle paint. Has anyone tried it? What paint did you use? How did it look? Did it last?

Is your rocker cover alloy or steel?,if it,s alloy it would probably be worthwhile using a commercial penetrating primer specific for alloys as it helps key the finished top coat.Like any paint job it needs preparing well before painting.
I have not used wrinkle finish but i have used "Wilkos" high temperature paint and its really good.
One thing though, by painting a rocker cover with heat resistant paint you will slow down the covers ability to dissipate heat away from the top of the engine.
A good example is the Metro cover which has fins to help heat escape quickly from the cover which is, sitting on top of the engine collecting a lot of rising heat.
I have painted one and used it and never had a problem.

Iirc he used the VHT wrinkle finish cans.

Key with wrinkle finish is to keep it warm, so ideally preheat the part (just in a hot room or something) and then do one coat leave for 5 minutes and do another coat in the opposite direction then leave in a hot room over night.

I did a rocker cover on an MX-5 with black wrinkle finish VHT and it came out almost the same as above

How did you prep it? I was going to use scotchbrite and acetone to clean it up. Then wasn't sure what primer to use.

Scotchbrite and acetone is probably the best way to clean it first, then a decent etch primer like upon acid etch, it only needs a light coat of primer nothing too think then go ahead with the wrinkle finish

Mines been on the car for around 6k and haven't peeled or bubbled at all, still looks great

The only issue with wrinkle finish is it can be patchy but it's just down to how even you put it on
