Im using 200 series Omex ignition on my engine but the basics are the same as megajolt and others. Im using a magnetic crank position sensor along with the Ford/Motorcraft 2nd generation coil pack. On first attempt at starting i have no spark. I have made sure that the coil pack has a permanent live feed, not switched. I need to know if the crank sensor reading can be low and it will still create an input? For example; providing its sensing the teeth on the pulley it should give out a reading or does it need to be above a certain amount? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Omex suggest the coil feeds are switched (IGN) 12v via a suitable relay, have you checked for 12v on the centre pin (2) of the Coil connector?

The CPS needs to be as close as possible to the trigger wheel and use shielded cable with the shield terminated to ground at one end only close to the ECU, what type of CPS are you using?

Im using an Omex crank sensor. I have got it as close as possible to the trigger wheel but due to the numpty that machined the trigger wheel, its not circular. I.e it is closer to the sensor on one part than the opposite side of the trigger wheel. If i spacer the sensor out slightly to 0.3mm on one side of the wheel, its about 0.6mm on the other. Its bloody annoying. Hence my question. From looking at the map with the engine cranking, the sensor appears to pick up the trigger at all times, just some are very low, some are very high. I presume from the difference is distances between the sensor and trigger wheel. As for the coil pack, i have given it a permanent 12v feed straight off the battery to number 2 pin. This is just to test, once i know it works, i will rewire correctly.

sounds like you have a trigger wheel thats been added to an exisiting crank pulley, hate to say it but they are known to be unreliable some have even moved out of position whilst driving not the best solution but I'd look for new crank pulley like the MED unit also incorporates a damper.

Can the pulley be changed with the engine in car?
