May have got the points gap slightly different when you reinstalled, this would alter timing.

electronic ignition will definately alter timing.

So try adjusting the timing.

I'd redo the compression test

ideally i'd rather go electric ignition. how far off can it throw the timing or is it random?

pretty random..

just did my timing yesterday, in the middle of a rebuild so yesterday was engine set up.

set revs to 4000 rpm, set timing gun to 30 degrees...adjust timing...

sounds lovely :)
