rear bins in mini look a little brown and flakey at the bottom . how bad is my descovery ?  :(

Inner sills are shot and being in this area it's a big job. Something like this

Get some pics up, if (and its a big if) you are lucky it may only be a small area that can be repaired by cutting out and letting in good metal. Unfortunately its most likely to end up like Neil's above. I had to do both sides on mine, one was like Neil's and the other I got away with (when I say got away with, it still needed a new outer sill as well)

Mine are like this, but the outer sill, step and floor were replaced so it's only these holes in the rear bin which remain. MOT man doesn't care, don't think it's much of a problem until next time the sills get replaced (I'll get it done then - properly).

The only downside with that thinking is if the area around the heelboard mounting bracket is badly corroded then there could be potential issues there. MOT man would fail it if he could see it but the crux here is he will not as you will have a cover over that area.
