Not a wanted post....yet!  Plenty more to spend my money on before I go buying wheels.  But!  When I do have some spare cash I fancy a set of Dunlop D1 wheels for my mini estate.  I'd rather go for original wheels than re-productions.  I'm taking it the originals will be stamped up in a way that you can tell them from the replicas.  How can I tell if its the real deal or not?

Cheers

Don't know how you tell whats genuine but be careful when buying a set of old alloys. They can develop cracks over time that could prove disasterous if they fail at motorway speeds. I belive you can get them x-rayed to check for things like this. Some people get genuine wheels just to go on when static at a show then change to new wheels for driving.

Originals should have LP followed by a three digit number stamped in them.

They also have the year of manufacture cast into the back somewhere. The ones on my Sprite are from 1969, 71 an 72. I purchased three lots to get one good set. It cost more to refurbish them, buy wheels nuts and get some alloy centres made for them.
