Looking at getting some black reg plates for my mini? Has anyone had any problems with them from the police etc?
I know they need changing for MOT time...

I have them on mine and have not been pulled by the rozzers YET......also left them on for the MOT and it passed but like many people will tell you they are illegal unless the car is exempt.......they do look good tho.....

Hm I may not bother, I can pick a pair up for £24 on eBay but it's not really worth taking the risk...

It will always pass the MoT with blacks as it only checks that it actually has plates.

You're unlikely to get pulled for them, especially if you have a suffix reg.

Plus, it's only a C&U reg. so no points on license, just a 60 quid fine.

If you're doing something else illegal (speeding, driving recklessly etc.) then the officer will likely check over the car to see what else they can prosecute you on.

Don't listen to anyone who 'has a mate with them and has never been pulled', because it will be bull. You can risk it if you want, but in my opinion, black plates on anything later than L reg looks stupid.

The yellow and white pressed legal ones look good though.
