I bought a 4x4 from someone through face book
For scrap value as it dropped its cam belt & obliterated the head.
I signed all the v5 ect & kept the green slip (new keepers form) & got a receipt of sale.
The car also had a months tax & mot on it at the time.
After a month of odd evenings it took me to rebuild the engine I still had not recived a log book for it. I held out a couple of weeks longer..... Nothing. I then contacted the person I got it from to which they assure me the logbook was signed & sent off after sale of the car.
I contacted DVla by phone, got put on hold for a while & eventually told to apply for a new log book along with the green slip i filled out on the purchase. After photo copying the slip just Incase. I sent the genuine one off with the relevant form.
Waited another month & heard nothing back for a while, then recived a letter along with my form I sent of with my green slip stating the registration I wrote down was unclear & can not be processed.
Even though my green slip was with this letter so if would have been obvious what the registration was.
I actually asked 3 people without explaining why I was asking them to read the registration I wrote that was supposibly unclear, they all read my writing fine.
Also they decided to keep my green slip form for some reason.
I then filled out another registration application & made it as clear as I could. With a photocopy of my new keepers form, plus a copy of the purchase receipt. A week later they sent me a letter stating they have recived my request & they are dealing with the matter.
I've waited & waited but still nothing.
I've rang up a number of times & if I'm not on hold I don't get answers either.
It's now been roughly 4 months & the car is registered to no one by the looks of it.
& The old owners have not had any tax expired fines.
The car is ready to sell on & this is really cheesing me off
What would be my next option ?
Cheers

Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman, once you've been all the way up their internal management chain. It might chivvy them up if you express an intent to pursue a civil court claim against them to recover the costs of having it moved and stored, as you can't put it on the road until they get their act together.
