Hiyah, I wonder if I can ask where are the best value tyres to be found for my 175/50/13 Sportspack. This is the first time I've needed any for my 2000 car, which has covered 6K miles. Many thanks. David.

"Tyres on the Drive" do Nanking for £56:00 each - seems very reasonable. Cheers!

You'll find mixed reviews on Nankangs especially re wet weather performance.

I have used Nankangs on my mini, Porsche 944turbo and MX5, they are the only budget tyre I would use. Most of the reviews I have seen regards poor wet weather grip seem to be from people who ran out of talent and then blamed the tyres. I use Yoko a048rs on the mini now and the grip is brilliant but they aren't cheap. 'Value' in tyres means different things to different people! I have also used a lot of Avons over the years and find them do be brilliant grip wise for the money, but they don't last as long as a Michelin would.

Couldnt agree more.
You cant get a budget tyre and pretend to drive like Schumacher in the wet, but these tyres are perfectly safe if used with some sense.

Thanks for your helpful views and thoughts. Sadly, my Russ Swift days are long gone. Mind you, thinking about it, I still have my moments when hitting a roundabout whilst being tailgated.....

put a set on the wife's clio 172 and have driven it like a nutter in the wet and they are fine, as they say, a bad worker always blames his tools.
