Hi TMF, got a problem with the speedo after making a few changes. Basically we had a hideous custom dash that we have taken out and refitted the same clocks into a centre binnacle. All was working fine at first but as I had got to mod the binnacle to fit a rev counter I thought id make a couple of changes to the speedo face too as I didnt like the amber flashes for the indicators.

so carefully stripped the speedo down and swapped out the amber for green put it all back together and... speedo no longer working. Took it out again and noticed where the cable sits was slightly rounded so decided to change to a spare clock. Again, made the mods and put it back together. no speedo... The drive and cable appear fine as had to drive with no clock in and cable inner is spinning happily. clocks went back in today after a double checking to see if I missed anything obvious and when I first pulled off there was a little twitch upto about 4mph then nothing??

Im at a loss, anyone got any ideas at all? cant remember who it was but someone told me to "remember to wind the clock on when you've done" when we talked about changing the flashers over a few weeks ago but it means nothing to me. does it make sense to anyone and have I made a school boy error somewhere?

Cheers

Ryan

Make sure the outer cable has not pulled forward out from the end metal spill where it screws onto the back of the head, the outer cables sometimes do when you move the binacle about and this make the inner to short to drive the speed pickup. seen it on several when the heads been moved about.

Cheers Kernow Cooper. I'll have a look at the cable outer
