Hi
I'm hoping someone can advise please :) I bought my mini on Friday and the paint work isn't amazing but I'm thinking it will be okay until I get the money together for a nice professional respect. I washed my car yesterday and polished all of the chrome which was rusting and from a distance it now looks great lol. Close up though, there are dirty finger prints still around the boot and bonnet and they show up quite alto as it is white. I used car shampoo to wash with but it did little to remove the prints but is there anything else I can use which won't affect the paintwork?

Thanks in advance :)Attached File  IMG_20131116_161446.jpg   42.37K   12 downloads

Are the fingerprints in the paint like it has been touched when it was wet?

If not, wd40 or tar and glue remover may help

No they appear to be on the surface. Thanks for the tip, I'll give wd40 a go as it bought the chrome up around the lights really nice but wasn't sure about using it on the paint :)

I once had a white car with loads of greasy marks on the wings where people had worked on the engine.

WD40 will most probably work, I would also advise Auto Glym Adhesive & Tar remover.

If all else fails try T Cut but be gentle and don't go too far!

depending on how much you like your paintwork you can use a bit of dilute fairy liquid, its generally bad for the paintwork but will cut through grease well so use it on the finger prints then come back over it with decent car wash shampoo and wash down the area and dry etc
