Hi All,
I'm afraid to say that I may be looking at selling my mini (kinda turned in to a bigger commitment than what I can make)
I brought the mini with the idea that it would be a rolling project, but due to a few inconsistencies between the sellers description and what the car actually needs, it is going to take a lot longer and test the limits of my skill! [GOD DAMN YOU FLEABAY]
The car is stripped so that only the electric fan, steering rack and steering column remain.
I know certain bits of the car are in more demand than others, so will be selling the largest / most awkward first if you get what I mean (I.e: 1275 engine will sell quite quickly, where as the shell may prove more troublesome)
The shell is a 1991 Mini Cooper SE, with V5 + plates
It requires repairs to the following: Rear of boot floor, O/S heel board / rear subframe mount (needs completing as I started this), the little curved bit that closes off the boot to the heel board, OS inner cill needs completing along with jacking point and outer cill, N/S inner and outer cill, N/S door step, O/S bulkhead needs repairing around the brake master cylinder, scuttle panel and basically a whole front end.
May be a few other bits I've missed but that's definitely the bulk of it
1275 cc engine - 56/57k miles - pretty much full service history up until pretty much I got the car
Only thing that needs doing on this is core plugs, I had one of them rust out on me which has been replaced. Also had a new BK450 head gasket and new water pump - this was at around 54k miles
Is selling the engine with all the ancillaries better that selling them all separate? I'd image its easier to get rid of them in one hit.
Subframes
Both front and rear subframes have been blasted, zinc coated and powder coated black (all holes were filled to prevent powder coat from clogging the thread) includes the radius arm brackets and the truncions
Running gear
Rear radius arms, brakes still attached - as they came off the car - no issues that I am aware of
Front upper and lower arms - sand blasted + painted with hydrate 80 - need old bearings removing and new ones installed - have new bearings which can go with.
Other Bits
Full set of glass
Full fabric interior although drivers seat stitching has come away
Walnut Dash - slight split
Original doors & boot - should prob go with the shell - doors need new skins + prob bit more attention
RC40 exhaust - twin box side exit
I also have a selection of new items which I have been collecting for the car which I was planning on selling for 75% of their price of where I brought them from ie: mainly mini spares
For example:
Genuine outer cills both sides,
Bonnet - new old stock with slight surface rust
re-skinned pair of doors
Hi-lo's and shocks for all four corners
two rubber cones (Mini Spares red dot?) + plastic knuckle cups
New door hinges
Genuine rear panel lower section
valance + closing panels
S/S braided brake hoses
new ball joint kits
And probably a load more bits that I have hoarded over the last year or so
Basically my two questions are:
1) How much can I expect from the original car ( I have everthing apart from the seals and perishable rubbers which I planned to replace)?
2) Is it reasonable to charge 75% of the original value for new unused parts?
I'm quite peeved that I'm having to do this, so be nice!
(Also to note, I haven't actually resorted to selling just yet, just weighing up the idea)
Thanks all,
Richard
