So i'm currently restoring my mini and have decided on a fibreglass or carbon fibre flip front. But i don't really like the design of the basic brace bar kit, it seems a little flimsy.

I suppose what i'm asking for is inspiration for a different design or even other brace bar kits that are on the market. I've spent quite a while looking for alternative designs before posting here, however i did hear that miglia race minis have an interesting design on them, i have failed to find any clear pictures though.

Any help at all is appreciated, many thanks.

I have seen some which use a solid bar as apposed to box section and they do look very interesting. I am almost certain that I saw them in here but am currently posting from my phone at work so I am unable to search for them.

Unfortunately they are not going to be the sort of item I imagine you can buy off of a shelf somewhere (otherwise we would see a lot more of them!) so is probably something you would have to have fabricated somewhere.

It does require brackets welding onto the subframe and the crossmember but I've made them adjustable with the rose joints aswell

Weight for strength. Use box section or tube. It'll be stiffer than bar.

Ditto that,

You wouldn't want to make them too sturdy, or you may just be providing a means of driving the dash towards your face in a heavy shunt. Of the other 2 attachment points, the subbie's tower is by far the most solid. I'd treat that as the most likely fulcrum, look for an attachment point with the right compromise of strength and maximum radius of rotation from there and aim your strut at a tangent. The conclusion is the commercially available ones are a pretty good effort. A bigger section tube, with a thinner wall, might improve rigidity without any weight penalty - and deform more safely in a shunt
