..never just rains with a Mini does it!! As Wallace once stated..the bounce has gone from mi bungie...

Drivers side seat belt has stopped rolling back onto the the tensioner reel. Is this fixable or is a new one required?

Cheers.

Gremlin...it's never been 'unmounted' just suddenly decided to stop 'rolling' back ...like those bloody hoover cables do ...

I've taken inertia reels apart before, you can sometimes fix them....but to be honest it's a pain in the backside sometimes.

I'm getting to the age where I'd rather just fit a good second hand unit now!

..ahhh..thanks...I'm of that age too...just wondered if it was a quick fix with a screw driver and an hour to spare. Time to search out a replacement I think.

Many thanks 'The Matt'

Last time I tried it went like this:

Remove seatbelt reel.

Open case.

Prepare for......... BOING.........

Give up

Make cuppa

Go to ebay and find good second hand unit

There's no shame in my failure, no shame at all! :D

Disclaimer:  It's a vital safety device and should reeeeeally be replaced rather than repaired by someone unexperienced.

If its not vertical, sometimes it stops reeling back on, I didn't say it had been 'unmounted' I meant, check it hasn't worked loose and 'fallen over'

How can you tell that a supposedly 'good second hand unit' is actually mechanically strong and safe inside?

Oh God...it started out being so simple...erm..Grems...it hasn't been moved for at least 10 years...would it have seriously worked loose? I'lll look but am not sure how you 'test for vertical'

As for second hand...isn't it a risk we take with all spares? Presumably there are no new units around anymore..and surely a new universal unit of 6 inches wouldn't fit into the space?
