Heater Problems

Hey guys, I recently brought a Austin city E 1982,

 

The problem is i'm unsure how to connect the heater to the front screen? What pipes are needed, and where do they go from the heater as can't find anywhere for them to connect to at the screen end?

Two plastic corrugated duct tubes, http://www.minispare...|Back to search should attach to a round metal port on either side of the heater casing, these then pass up behind the dash lining and attach to two plastic vent nozzles , that are screwed into the underside of the top dash rail beneath the windscreen http://www.minispare...|Back to search

I've added a minispares link for them to the post above, you can also pick them up from auto jumble stands at shows fairly cheaply though.

Alternatively if you pay a fiver for TMF+ membership, you can place a wanted ad here on TMF for some. They're the kind if thing that I'm sure some people here will have kicking around in their garages/ sheds etc.

Also, i the pipes into the heater are hot but the air isn't very hot, what would this be? (new to this if you couldn't tell)

I am have the exact thing, i need to get the tubes sorted, think previous owner removed to fit a centre console  :ohno:

 

However additionally, the heater does get warm but the air blown out is cold, even if the engine is running warm

Probably an air lock in the matrix that's stopping the hot coolant from flowing through it, (especially if you've just fitted/ connected up the heater). With the heater valve open, try disconnecting the inlet/outlet heater hoses on the engine side of the bulk head, and connecting a garden hose to one, and a spare length of hose leading to a bucket to the other. Then gently turn the garden tap on and flush the matrix until the water runs clear into the bucket. This should prime the heater circuit with water and purge it of any air. Then reconnect the hoses and run the engine at idle until it gets up to temperature, it helps to do this with the rad cap off, so that any remaining air in the system can escape. Don't turn the garden tap on fully though, as full mains water pressure could damage the matrix.
