hi done a bit of welding tonight and it doesnt seem to be welding to good since i have changed the shroud? its like the wire keeps sticking and if i rest the shroud on the metal it sticks and just sends the volts down the wire. all switches are on max and wire speed is just over half but doesnt seem to come out that quick tho. any ideas what i can do to make it better? thanks tom

Have you changed the wire liner recently....or at all?  Could be worn and dragging the wire.  Could also be twisted so the wire isn't feeding properly.  Also the feed rollers, check for wear and if they are functioning properly.

I found that my feed rollers on my old SIP mig were not lined up correctly with the wire and that caused the wire to come out slowly and also erratically sometimes.

I had to bodge one of the rollers by padding out the shaft with insulating tape to make it a tighter fit and stop the up and down slop in it.

however, if it seems to have started since simply replacing the shroud and you say that the current goes back up the wire then I would check the tip is not arcing on the new shroud.

Hope its nothing too drastic.

Try changing the welding tip for a new one.

My welding gun failed yesterday, but I got a new one today from BOC and will fit it tomorrow. It seems to be an electrical connection fault in the electric feed to and from the trigger somewhere in the line.
