Hi guys,

 

Finally got round to fitting my ITG air filter today after my old K&N dropped off and I lost the backplate...

 

Anyway, long story short, I can't get the foam filter and stubstack to fit. I've got a HIF44 carb and can get the backplate and stubstack on without the filter, I can get the filter into place without the backplate and stubstack and I can even get the backplate and filter on without the stubstack, but not all three. Its just too damn cramped!

 

Is there any solution short of undoing engine steadies and yanking the engine forward? I know some will say that's simple and it is, but last time I couldn't get the holes to line up again on the engine afterwards and it took ages to sort it out.

If theres no room for that, I'm afraid you need to use the standard MG metro/mini cooper inlet manifold. Aftermarket inlets are too big.

Cheers, though I have no idea what inlet is on there atm, It just says 'minispeed' on it. Would a metro one be smaller?

Any piccies or links to the bits? Maybe someone can see a solution. How about slackening the manifold or carb to try & create enough play to get it together, or a thinner carb spacer/abutment plate.
