So thanks for the welcome,

A bit of background;

I rebuilt/built this Mini in 1995/6 when I bought her from her second owner since 1968, who was stopping driving and used to find her missing once a month as one or two locals found her very easy to borrrow. She was very rotten in all the usual places. A friend of mine also bought a 59 thin body mini at the same time. We stripped both cars and made A frames and a spit to allow us to weld both cars simply by rotating them on the spit - that worked a treat and if your looking to do more than one car its the way to go. We did both of the Mini's to compete in the Monte historic rally, so we had a deadline and this meant that assembly was less than meticulous, probably more agricultural, but both cars were mot'd and going by the dealine. Sadly this one didn't do the Monte but the other one did it twice and did the circuit of ireland - highly recomended!

So 17 years later with some side projects, shes due a big birthday, and it would be good to drive her again.

I started work on her two weeks ago, I've had all  the drums off, have three broken/seized adjusters on the front back plates, removed all straw and rubbish from everywhere - how does it get in the box section that you mount the subframe to? and vacuumed her out.

There appears to be several places where there is some minor surface rust poping through but nothing more then a bit of touching up.

I have what to me is a huge "big as the fish that gotaway" dent in the boot just under the lh tail lamp which will require petrol tank out a hammer and some filler etc,

I've been touching up the wheel arches and the floor underside, making lists of all the rotten rubber, chasing around for paint, cleaning out the threads on the cones that need changing.

Today's successes include new battery, carb rebuild, ign timing, rebuilding the low tension side of the ignition, changing the oil, topping up the coolant and listening to the engine not misfiring - fantastic!
