hi

i have a 1275 engine and have filled up the master cylinder with fluid, bled the slave cylinder. i get movement when i pump the pedal but it is small and is not very hard to press at all. is there supposed to be a spring holding the arm in/out??

what should it look like set up correctly??

To be honest, it should look pretty similar to it not being set up right.....in terms of if you have air in the system (like me at the moment) it doesnt look any different.

There is a spring from the top of the pedal yes but would'nt be the cause of too much resistance....sounds to me like it just has'nt been bled properly but a) more info would help(such as have you had it all apart or were you just bleeding it and B) i know one of the pros will soon correct me if wrong!

A or A+ engine? A-series does have a spring, but it shouldn't make any real difference when just bleeding it. sounds like you haven't bled it right.

a pre verto clutch (if you have one) (which has a long clutch arm and the slave clinder is mounted on top of the clutch housing) has a return spring however you can have problems as i did if some one has bent the clutch arm which they shouldnt then the spring can work against you as mine did. If you have a verto clutch (quite a short arm with the slave cylinder mounted at about 45 degrees) does not have a return spring. This could cause very little movement. although no resistance would lead me to belive that your clutch still needs bleeding.

this is my old one before i replaced it but gives general idea (the rubber cover on the end should be nice n tight to the cylinder). This is on my 850 dont know if ur 1275 is the same

my engine has the cylinder mounted on a plate at 45 degrees. Thanks for your help i will keep trying.

ah, ignore my picture then as it sounds like you have a verto clutch. What year is your mini think after 79 they started to switch to verto clutches.
