Someone tried them and by the way they're just 44mm chokes so they will work. But seeing not many people run them, i'd guess they're not worth the hassle.

I think Cooperman said he used them on his Cooper S 1330. IIRC he fitted them for driving in the Alps where the air is thinner. Apparently they worked well but twin HS4/ H4's worked better.

There's no reason not to, but you would need a well ported head and maniflow steel inlet to take full advantage of the potential

I only ask as I've got a pair on a mini manifold, I didn't know if they would be too rich or would a simple needle change do the trick?

Cheers james

I did use a pair of HS6's on a rally 1330 'S' because we were rallying in the Italian Alps.
They worked OK in the thinner air when weakened off, but there was really no performance increase and in the UK a pair of H4 orHS4 are better.
Maybe with a 1380 with a race build engine using very high (7000 rpm+) they might be an improvement, but you would need to ask a race engine builder. 'AC' might have some experience with this.

the main reason why i ask .... i bought these being told they where hs4's but after receiving them found they werent, i didnt pay alot for them and they came on a mini manifold which could be used with hs4 carbs and to be honest i cant be bothered sending them back

cheers james

I have a pair of HS6's, but I intend fitting them to an MGB-GT with a modified head and hotter cam. They will need different angled float chambers of course.

ive dried fitted mine to my engine just to make sure they sat right regarding clearance and float angle and they seem fine..... i know where the seller got it wrong... he measured the airfilter side which does measure 1.5" but the manifold side measures 1.75".... i may just clean them up and sell on....
im undecided

cheers james

If you have them you can give a try, but you'll need the proper size filters anyway!

They will work, they are just a bit oversized but there's nothing wrong with that, it's just unneccessary... I know somebody who uses two Weber 45DCOE carbs on standard Ford Valencia engine (1000cc Kent) and it works perfectly...

I too have a pair of HS6's on a mini manifold but I haven't fitted them yet, I first want a modified cylinder head...

Twin Weber 40 DCOE's were often fitted to 998 cc Imps for rallying & racing. But they rev to well over 9000 rpm so the airflow speed through the carb is still quite high.

With twin HS6's it is necessary to use high revs and I used to drive mine at between 4500 and 6500 rpm when I had the twin HS6's, but it did run well once set up correctly.
