When I was getting my mini rolling roaded at Peter Baldwins, I asked why twin hif carbs aren't as good as normal twin su carbs, he didn't know, bit did tell me that he'd tried twin hif44s on his miglia and it wasn't as good as a weber.

Its due to the finer fuel atomization. The weslake type combustion chambers need it rough for maximum power, and the weber delivers big droplets of fuel.
