Any tips on how to fit the little chrome metal joining piece that covers the join in the plastic fillet?

Just ordered up 2 new ones and was quicky reminded why they were left out previously.

Lift one end of the filler strip, push the joiner fully on, and carefully lever the filler strip back into place. Slide the joiner till it covers the gap correctly, using a suitable tool such as a fairly blunt screwdriver to push it. Obviously lots of lubrication helps, try a non-silicone rubber lubricant, or soap.

Get the little tool, it seems such a crappy bit of nothing you think why bother? Having done it both ways I can say it is more than worth the money. Use Hellerine oil (try a local electrical factor) to fit it and the job is pretty easy.

Wear a nose plug if you use hellerine . It smells like old women and I really hate the smell!

But it is very good stuff!

Why are people talking about using the correct tool and lubricant? they are for fitting the filler strip not the little chrome finisher that goes over the two ends of the filler strip.
Just push in the bottom of the finisher then use a blunt screwdriver to push the top under the rubber seal.

That would be because we haven't read the title properly ;-)
