A very long shot on a mini forum but quite frankly most other forums are useless compared to here (or a lot of people will to chat rubbish about things they know nothing all about!)!

My mk4 golf tdi needs new suspension. I want to upgrade it to be a tad more sporty (minish) to drive but i need to have quality parts that will last as im doing 30k a year.

Im looking mainly at the above or a h&r 30mm set of lowering springs and belstein b6 dampers. Any recommendations or Alternatives?

I dont really want to go coilovers as they seem much poorer quality than an equivilent price spring shock setup.

Make sure your sump is protected and you order the right size dampers, 2 different size dampers on golf thick and thin

IIRC its 45mm and 54mm but Im not a huge fan of VW's

get the h&R cup kit but buy in from germany, can't be beaten on price. well none that i have found anyway.

as mentioned above get a sump guard or fit spacers in the mounts to raise engine.

you have 2 options in the cup kit. comfort or sport.

both are a huge improvement over standard

Cheers. Will dropping it really put that much risk onthe sump, it will only go down 30mm? I'm sure the mini will still be lower even after the suspension change? When you say 2 options is there a preloadswiitch or something you can change?

no the 2 options are 2 seperate kits.

cup kit sport and cup kit comfort..

the sport is a stiffer suspension.

both lower by 35mm but if you already have a golf with sports suspension it only really lowers by about 15-20mm as the sports suspenion is lower to start with.

i've burst the sump on my car with standard sports suspension. but i don't do alot of motorway driving it's back roads for me.

and the sump is fair annoying to change.....

fit anti roll bars on the back too and fabia vrs rear bushes.. makes the world of differnace.

you might as well if you changing the suspension.. the pushes are only like 50 bucks as a kit with new bolts.
